November 6, 2009 Knit/Crochet US-3 dpn G hook Worsted Weight yarn in green and red Ribbon Main Wreath:With green, CO 1 stitch, knit as I-cord r1: k in front and back of stitch (2 stitches) r2: k in front and back of each stitch (4 stitches) r3: continue until I-cord measures 7 1/2 inches next round: k2tog (2 stitches) last round" k2tog (1 stitch) cut tail, pull through remaining stitch Adding texture:With G-hook, create 2 chains measuring about 8 - 8 1/2 inches. Assembling:Wrap each chain around the I-cord in opposite directions, crisscrossing as you go, and making sure to not bend the I-cord any more than making it into a circle. Use red yarn and tapestry needle to create French knot berries. To avoid knots on the back of the wreath, insert the needle at one end of the I-cord, and come out where you want a berry. Create berry. Insert needle back into I-cord and move to next berry spot. Continue around the wreath until you've reached the other end of the I-cord. Pull the red out that end. Now take all ends of yarn and overlap, creating a < 1/2" spot to wrap a ribbon around several times. Use glue if necessary. Once the ends are covered, cut remaining tails of yarn and then tie a bow with the ribbon. |
